Season Review

Well played.

PLAYR was launched one year ago. In that time, thousands of you have used the technology to take your game to the next level.

To celebrate our first birthday, we’ve taken a look at all the data that’s been generated over the last year to showcase some of the best stories from the PLAYR community.

🌍 The global PLAYR community is spread across 99 different countries

A massive 23% of users are based in the UK, with the USA not far behind on 21%

Unsurprisingly the four-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champions have the highest percentage of female PLAYR users

Outwork the opposition

There are no secrets in football. If you want to be the best athlete you can be, you’ve got to put in the hard yards.

I enjoy the challenge of becoming the best version of myself.

Paolo Sanchez Greco is a 15-year-old midfielder with big ambitions.

Playing for Kendall Soccer in Miami, Paolo has recorded more sessions than any other PLAYR user (over 150 this year) as he strives to make it as a professional. PLAYR helps Paolo to analyse his game and work on his weaknesses as he chases his dream.

“I want to become the best player in the world at my position. The sky's the limit.”

When it comes to getting the work done, there’s nothing to separate male and female PLAYR users, with an almost identical number of sessions per week across the genders.

Average sessions per week

From London to Los Angeles and everywhere in between, we’ve seen PLAYR users record some incredible top speeds over the last 12 months.

Fastest Countries

Average top speed per country

Croatia Flag

Croatian PLAYR users are the fastest of all with an average top speed of 7.16m/s.

Modric, Rakitic, Perisic; Croatia has always been a hotbed of footballing talent and our numbers back that up.

Three of the top four are the semi-finalists in the 2019 FIFA Womens' World Cup!
Saudi Arabia Flag

Saudi Arabia has the fastest female users with an average top speed of 6.2m/s.

Saudi Arabia still doesn’t have a women’s national team, but there is clearly plenty of talent among their athletes.

Hong Kong Flag

Recording an average top speed of 7.41m/s, Hong Kong has the quickest male PLAYR users of any country.

Hong Kong may not be known for its football, but it’s players certainly aren’t short of pace!

PLAYR Academy

Last summer, we created a team from scratch in London and gave them eight weeks to prepare before competing against 185 of the world’s best U16 boys’ teams.

Preparing and recovering with the help of PLAYR, the team scored 27 goals during an unbeaten run of eight games to make the final at the 40,000 capacity Gamla Ullevi.

Work smarter, not harder.

PLAYR users know that success isn’t just about working harder, but working smarter too. We also recognise the importance of rest and recovery to drive performance.

By day of the week

No surprises here. 35% of sessions take place at weekends as players take to the field for match day.

Rest Days

Monday and Friday are the least active days as players rest up before and after games which is good practice to optimise recovery.

As you work to take your game to the next level, the ability to sprint further and faster can help you stand out from the crowd.

Age matters

Average sprint distance

PLAYR users between the ages of 18 and 24 cover an impressive average sprint distance of 540m in 11v11 games.

Players under 14 cover less than half that amount as they gradually develop their strength and fitness.

Being in the right place at the right time is key to success in football. Our Match to a Pro feature shows how your heatmap stacks up against the elite in your position.
